He had a hundred and twenty years with his dark princess. Years of fierce joy, fiercer carnage, wild sex and wilder mayhem.
It took a hundred and twenty seconds to change. Seconds of shaking with the full horror of his nightmare. Seconds to recognise that the words blurted out in his sleep were true, now and forever.
Another hundred and twenty years would not be enough to atone for what he had done, or demonstrate his devotion. After she told him she loved him, he had a bare hundred and twenty seconds to burn up in the glory of it.
