She had already lost so many times. She had lost the war. She had lost countless friends in that war.
But Zoe had always figured that after the war, she would start to win. Things can’t always be bad. And it had seemed that way, too. Together with Mal, she had gained a home in Serenity. She had gained friends. She had gained a husband.
Her life was scary, but things always got through in the end.
Up until now.
They had helped the world win against the Alliance. But Zoe had lost her world.
There was no winning left.
