Prompt 142: Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Characters/Pairing (if any) Cordelia, Angel, Fred, slight Cordy/Angel
A/N: A missing scene in Angel season 4's episode Sacrifice
When Cordelia was little, she had always wanted to be a princess. In her big mansion with her pretty dresses, it was easy to pretend. As she grew older she stopped pretending, but the fantasy didn't completely go away until she lost all of her pretty possessions and her house. Cordelia then decided to be the next best thing: a movie star.
But her life was no Disney fairytale with it's happily-ever-afters and perfectness. Her life was more like a Grimm fairytale, all dark and scary and unhappy.
One would think that Cordelia would have gotten used to not being in control of her own body. But the helplessness never went away as Cordelia saw the awful things the one-who-took-over-her-body did and said to the closest thing she'd ever had to a family. The frustration of seeing and hearing everything but not able to do a single thing never went away either. Being in a coma wasn't so different, but at least her part was done, even if she did have to see all the results.
When Angel and Fred entered her room, Cordelia wasn't sure whether to be happy to see them or to be angry at them for not being able to realize sooner that it wasn't her. Connor was her son, she would never sleep with him. Did they really think she was such a big slut she would open up her legs to the first guy that came along? But if Angel found a way to wake her up, she would forgive him. Well, after making him work for her forgiveness a bit, that is.
"I'm sorry," Angel whispered to her as he kissed her forehead. In the fairytales the princess always woke up when her true love gave her a kiss. Any minute now she would wake up and everything would be alright. Any minute now she would get her happy ending.
And so the sleeping princess slept on, waiting.
Any minute now.
