William stared at the most wonderful woman in the world.

She’d given him eternity already.

She’d taught time to feed, richly and well, in ways he would never have dreamed of as a human.

She had killed for him; he had killed in return. God, it was powerfully wonderful.

And now... now she was offering something better still.

Drusilla toyed with the buttons at her throat. “Do you want to, then? Do you want me? We could do sweet, terrible, forbidden things. I can make you a man... if you’d like me to.”

William wasn’t about to argue. “God... yes.”

Don’t get me wrong, I like your ideas, this whole demon-vamp supremacy co-operation thing, it could work. It’s got vision. I’ll back you to the hilt (until the Slayer does you in, obviously).

But the look? It’s so... B-Movie.

You know? Dr X will build a creature? Yeah, doesn’t it show! Dr X might have been some kind of genius freak with her cages of demonic lab rats. But the woman had no sense of style.

I mean, is it so hard to get matching arms?

But it’s the right thing to do. So I’m there 100%.

It’s just the waiting I hate.

So I’m gonna spend it my way. No bloody premature heroics. Try and find a game, dealing cards till I get up the nerve. And then I’m fucking well gonna read some poetry.
