There were hundreds of thousands of girls born around the world the same year she was born. Thousands of those were born in areas of otherworldly activity, even on other Hellmouths. She was born into an average American city and whilst there was demonic activity, she never saw it.

There were girls born into cultures where a destiny meant everything and parents would dedicate their lives to helping their daughters achieve it. Other cultures gave their children greater freedom at an earlier age. She was expected to make her own destiny, but under the supervision of the adults in her life.

There were parents who knew the world their daughter was being asked to serve, the people in her life knew nothing of it.

But despite this, she was the one who was chosen. There were girls who would have been so much better prepared for being called. Sometimes she felt that there was no reasoning behind her being called, and it was just chance.
