I've never read or even imagined this pairing - I must say they are completely scrumptious together - odd and endearing and funny.

I should warn you that the atmosphere is completely different from this; there are moments of funny or comfort, but it is an extremely dark tale of violence, torture, and despair. That's why I suggested this probably had to be set in its aftermath. Xander and Illyria have only just paired up in it, although she's been trying to get his attention for most of the story.
A couple of other bits and pieces in the DeadWarVerse include Upon the Face of Beauty (http://community.livejournal.com/still_grrr/787033.html), which is about Xander and Illyria's first actual date, and Shell Games (http://mabus101.livejournal.com/106896.html), a somewhat smutty (NC-17) tale of their second attempt at sex. Finally, their first, not quite so successful attempt (referenced in "Shell Games") is Men Are From Mars, Old Ones Are From R'lyeh (http://mabus101.livejournal.com/27609.html) (an R-rated drabble). There may be some other smaller bits buried on my LJ somewhere.
